Getting Started
Your instructor will share a class join link or a unique code. Click the link or go to /join and enter the code your instructor provided. You'll be enrolled immediately — no account creation required for most classes.
If you received an enrollment email, just click the "Join Class" button inside the email. It handles everything automatically.
Head to the Scenario Library and browse the available scenarios. Each card shows the topic, difficulty level, and estimated time. Click any scenario card to view details, then hit "Start Simulation".
You'll be assigned a role (mediator, party, or observer) and the simulation begins right away. No downloads, no installs — it runs entirely in your browser.
A simulation is a live, AI-driven conversation where you practice conflict resolution in a realistic scenario. You'll receive messages from one or more AI characters playing the disputing parties, and your goal is to guide the conversation toward resolution.
Simulations typically take 10–25 minutes. You respond in your own words — there are no multiple-choice options. After you finish, you get a detailed debrief with scores, observations, and coaching tips.
For class-based access, your instructor manages enrollment — you typically don't need a separate account. Just use the join link they provide.
If you want to track your personal progress over time or access the full scenario library independently, you can sign up for a plan. Free practice sessions are available too.
Absolutely. Every scenario is tagged with a difficulty level: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Start with Beginner scenarios to get comfortable with the platform and basic mediation concepts before moving to more complex situations.
The debrief after each simulation explains what worked and what to try differently — so you learn from every session, regardless of experience level.
During a Simulation
The AI plays one or more characters in the scenario — disputing parties with their own interests, emotions, and history. It responds naturally to what you say, just like a real person would in a conflict situation.
The AI isn't trying to trick you or make it impossible. It's calibrated to give you a realistic practice experience while staying within the bounds of the scenario context.
Type your responses exactly as you would speak in a real mediation. There are no "right answer" buttons — the system evaluates your phrasing, intent, and technique.
Some tips:
- Use open-ended questions to explore interests
- Acknowledge emotions before jumping to solutions
- Stay neutral — you're a mediator, not a judge
- Take your time; there's no time pressure
It's okay to pause and think. The AI won't time out or penalize you for taking a moment.
If you're genuinely unsure how to proceed, try:
- Asking an open question: "Can you tell me more about what happened?"
- Summarizing what you've heard so far to buy time
- Acknowledging the emotion: "It sounds like this has been really frustrating."
Remember — the debrief will give you coaching on exactly this, so getting stuck is part of the learning.
Yes. If you want to start fresh, you can go back to the Scenario Library and launch the same scenario again. Each run is a new, independent session.
Your previous attempts are saved and visible in your Progress page — so you can compare how you improve across multiple runs of the same scenario.
Simulations are designed to be completed in a single session. If you close the browser or navigate away, your progress may not be saved and you'd need to start a new session.
Most simulations take 15–25 minutes — plan enough uninterrupted time before you start.
After a Simulation
Your debrief has three parts:
- Overall Score — a 0–100 rating of your mediation performance
- Dimension Scores — breakdowns by skill area (e.g., Active Listening, Neutrality, Option Generation)
- Coaching Notes — specific observations tied to moments in the conversation, with suggestions for improvement
Click any dimension to expand detailed observations. The coaching notes reference what you actually said, so you can see exactly where to grow.
Scores range from 0–100 across multiple dimensions. Here's a rough guide:
- 85–100 — Excellent. Professional-level technique
- 65–84 — Good. Solid fundamentals with room to refine
- 45–64 — Developing. Key skills emerging; focus on coaching notes
- Below 45 — Early stage. Review the basics and try again
Don't stress about low scores — they're learning signals, not grades. Many users improve 20+ points just by applying one coaching note to their next run.
From the debrief page, click "Share Results" to generate a shareable link. Send that link directly to your instructor — it shows your scores, dimensions, and the full conversation transcript.
If you're enrolled in a class, your instructor may already see your results automatically in their dashboard. Check with them to confirm.
Visit your Progress page to see a full history of your simulations, scores over time, and which scenarios you've completed. You can also replay the transcript of any past session.

Go to /redeem and enter the trial code your instructor shared. This unlocks access for the duration of the trial — no credit card required.
If the code says it's already used or expired, contact your instructor to get a fresh one or request an extension.
When a trial expires, your access to premium scenarios and class features is paused. Your past simulation history and debriefs are always saved — you won't lose any of your progress.
To continue, you can upgrade to a paid plan or ask your instructor about renewing the class trial.
Yes! A selection of beginner scenarios is available for free without any payment. You can practice, get debriefs, and see your scores at no cost.
A paid plan unlocks the full scenario library, advanced scenarios, and class enrollment features. See our pricing for details.
Technical Issues
ConflictDojo works best on modern browsers:
- Chrome or Edge — recommended
- Firefox — fully supported
- Safari — supported (on iOS 15+ / macOS Monterey+)
Internet Explorer is not supported. If you're using an older browser and seeing issues, update it or switch to Chrome.
Yes — ConflictDojo is mobile-friendly. All pages and simulations are designed to work on phones and tablets.
For the best simulation experience (especially typing longer responses), a laptop or desktop is recommended. But mobile works perfectly fine for reviewing debriefs, browsing scenarios, and shorter sessions.
A few tips to speed things up:
- Check your internet connection — AI responses require a stable connection
- Close extra browser tabs to free up memory
- Refresh the page if responses stop loading (you'll need to start a new simulation)
- Try Chrome or Edge if you're on a different browser
If slowness persists across multiple sessions, email support@conflictdojo.com with a description of what you're seeing.
First, try refreshing the page. Most temporary errors resolve with a reload.
If the error persists:
- Take a screenshot of the error message
- Note what you were doing when it appeared
- Email support@conflictdojo.com with the screenshot and details
We respond to support emails within a few hours during business days.
Debriefs are generated by AI after your simulation ends, which can take 15–30 seconds. If you see a loading spinner, please wait — don't refresh.
If you're still seeing a loading state after 60 seconds, refresh the page and check your Progress page — the debrief may have completed and be available there.
If neither works, email support@conflictdojo.com with your email address and approximate simulation time.
